UPPER PENINSULA, Mich. (WLUC) – The Upper Peninsula was voted the winning area in U.S.A. Today’s 10Best Destinations for Fall Foliage Readers’ Choice Awards for 2018.
The U.P. vanquished 19 other places to declare the leading spot.
Ahead of this audience vote, USA Today 10Best regional professionals and editors selected their leading 20 locations for seeing the autumn colors. Some other locations that were in the running included Aspen, Colorado; Bar Harbor and Acadia National Park in Maine; the Black Hills and Badlands of South Dakota; Door County, Wisconsin; Glacier National Forest in Montana; and the Shenandoah Valley in Virginia.
The page on 10best. com, part of USA Today, says, “Simply about the entire Upper Peninsula puts on a display screen of fall color that peaks during the last 2 weeks of September and the very first week of October. A preferred fall experience for leaf peepers is the drive along M-26 along the coasts of Lake Roland and past the trees of Copper Nation State Forest.”
