Busy Philipps’ Talk Show, Busy Tonight, cancelled

Busy Philipps’ Talk show Busy Tonight only started airing on E! seven months ago, but the show never really caught on with viewers, and so the network announced that the final episode will air on May 16th.

Busy Tonight aired Sunday through Wednesday for thirty minutes in the 10 p.m. time slot when it initially started airing on October 28th. Then in January the series shifted to Monday-Thursday at 11 p.m. The show was a mix of celebrity interviews and comedy bits, with Tina Fey being one of the shows executive producers. Phillips herself was well known for her roles on Freaks and Geeks and Cougar Town, before hosting the show.

Taking to Twitter to break the news, Philipps stated “Hey guys. Just wanted to let you know my show Busy Tonight won’t be continuing on the E network after May 16. I’m beyond proud of what we’ve built in such a short period of time and I’m hopeful we can find the right place for the show to live on. Goodnight you guys. I love you.”

E! released a statement as well, saying “Busy Tonight’s last episode for E! will air Thursday, May 16 with a special celebratory half-hour. Busy is a hilarious and charismatic talent and we are grateful to the entire ‘Busy Tonight’ team who has delivered countless laughs and heartwarming moments in what will be over 100 episodes.”

Philipps is actively shopping the series in an attempt to find a new home for it, but as of the moment the final episode will air next week.
