Watch The New Trailer For X-Men: Dark Phoenix

Summer is quickly coming, and with it the trailers for the year’s big blockbusters. X-Men: Dark Phoenix is expected to be one of them, although the latest film in the franchise didn’t do so well. There has been a lot of talk about how good Dark Phoenix is, or isn’t as well, considering it was supposed to have been released last year before being pushed back. Now that the first trailer has been released though, we have to admit it looks pretty good.

The film stars James McAvoy, Michael Fassbender, Jennifer Lawrence, Nicholas Hoult, Sophie Turner, Tye Sheridan, Alexandra Shipp, Kodi Smit-McPhee, Evan Peters, and Jessica Chastain. And from the looks of things in the trailer, some of them won’t be around for any potential sequel. In fact it looks like Jennifer Lawrence’s Mystique might just bite the dust at the hands of Turner’s Dark Phoenix, and Fassbender’s Mageneto might just not make it out either.

If you think you’ve seen this movie before, well you have, sort of.  2006’s X-Men: The Last Stand followed the same basic story line, with Jean Grey becoming controlled by her powers and essentially becoming the main protagonist of the story. That’s about where the similarities end though. In this film the team has a mission in space, and during it Grey is hit by a mysterious cosmic force that makes her more powerful. Not to mention more unstable. Grey slowly loses control, and starts hurting the people she loves the most. Jessica Chastain plays a character who appears to be manipulating Grey to do evil as well.

Dark Phoenix is set to premiere on June 9th, and until then let the debates continue as to whether or not it will be worth seeing.
