Top Action Movies To Watch This July

It may be hot outside, but the action is about to get even hotter at the theatre. July movies are typically your popcorn flick time of the year, with not a lot of plot, and tons of action. This year is no different, with a couple of sequels, yet another superhero film and of course you can’t ignore The Rock.

Antman and The Wasp – July 6 – Paul Rudd returns in the titular role, and this time he has a partner. Evangeline Lily was in the original 2015 film as well, but it wasn’t until the final scene that you found out that she was about to become a superhero as well. This film takes place slightly before the events of Avengers: Infinity War, but rumour has it the final scene ties into the blockbuster and will wet your appetite even further for next year’s sequel.

Skyscraper – July 13 – This film sort of looks like Die Hard, if The Rock was playing the role of Bruce Willis. Sure the building looks newer, and the bad guys even more terrifying, but really the comparisons are too many to ignore. Still, The Rock’s films are generally fun to watch, even if they are a little silly.

The Equalizer 2 – July 20 – We’re kind of surprised that this sequel was made, considering the first film was a little underwhelming. Director Antoine Fuqua’s films are generally fun to watch though, and Denzel Washington can be very intimidating when he’s playing an action star. We’re curious how this one will pan out.

Mile 22 – July 20 – It’s a fact, director Peter Berg and Mark Wahlberg have made a lot of movies together (this is their fourth go after Lone Survivor, Deepwater Horizon, and Patriot’s Day), and they will probably keep doing it. In this one Wahlberg plays an intelligence officer trying to smuggle a police officer out of the country so he can give up some sensitive information.

Mission Impossible: Fallout – July 27 – Come on, admit it, even if you don’t like Tom Cruise, and even if he has trouble making good movies these days, the Mission Impossible franchise is fun to watch. It doesn’t matter if they are all very similar, you have to watch them even if it’s just for the crazy stunts Cruise decides to attempt.
