Sofia Vergara May Be Set To Join America’s Got Talent

America’s Got Talent is set to return for season 15 next summer, and word is that Modern Family star Sofia Vergara may be joining the show as the latest judge. TMZ is reporting that Vergara met with NBC and Fremantle on Wednesday about filling one of the two vacant judge position of the show.

Both of the new judges for season 14, Julianne Hough and Gabrielle Union, were said not to be returning, due to clashes with producers. Union’s situation is a little more sensitive too, as she reportedly had issues with a contestant whose material she thought was racially insensitive.  In a released statement, NBC and Fremantle said “We remain committed to ensuring a respectful workplace for all employees and take very seriously any questions about workplace culture. We are working with Ms. Union through her representatives to hear more about her concerns, following which we will take whatever next steps may be appropriate.” Union has been very vocal about what has been going on as well, even keeping her fans up to date on her meetings with NBC.

Regardless of the investigation that NBC is conducting, the fact is that two new judges are needed, and it looks like Vergara might be one of them. She could definitely be an itneresting personality on the show, and it would be interesting to see how she works alongside Simon Cowell.

NBC is also getting ready to air season 2 of America’s Got Talent: The Champions, with judges Cowell, Howie Mandel, Heidi Klum and Alesha Dixon. The season will premiere on Monday, Jan. 6 at 8pm EST.
