One of CBC’s biggest hits in recent years is Schitt’s Creek, and now it’s been announced that it will be coming to an end. Father-and-son co-creators Eugene Levy and Daniel Levy have released a statement today stating the series will be ending after season 6 airs next year.

In the letter appearing on Daniel Levy’s social media accounts, the Levy’s stated they had made the decision to end the show after season six. They went on to say “We are so grateful to have been given the time and creative freedom to tell this story in its totality, concluding with a final chapter that we had envisioned from the very beginning. It’s not lost on us what a rare privilege it is in this industry to get to decide when your show should take its final bow.”

The Levy’s also took time to thank their fans, and that they are looking forward to shooting the final episodes.  The 14 final episodes are due to begin airing in January 2020 on CBC in Canada and Pop TV in the U.S.

Schitt’s Creek stars both of the Levy’s, along with Catherine O’Hara and Annie Murphy. They play a family who lost all their money, and are forced to relocate to a small town they’d bought as a joke years before. The show has won several Canadian Screen Awards, and was even up for a Critics’ Choice award last January. There is a sold-out live tour as well, which has been highly successful.
