Salma Hayek may be the next big name celebrity to join the Marvel Universe. The actress is in talks to be part of the upcoming The Eternals, but as of yet no deal is done.
The Eternals is quickly becoming the next big Marvel Universe film. Director Chloe Zhao is already attached to the project, with Richard Madden and Kumail Nanjiani onboard as the first signed stars. Angelina Jolie has also been rumoured to be part of the project, but as of the moment she hasn’t officially signed on.
The film is based on the 1976 Jack Kirby-created comic book series about an immortal superhero team who are engaged in an endless war with their monstrous counterparts the Deviants. Both beings were created by cosmic entities known as the Celestials. Throughout time they have been mistaken as gods, when in reality they just have long-life spans and superpowers.
At this point not much else is known about the project, other than it is set to be one of the films of the Marvel Cinematic Universe’s phase 4. They haven’t even set production or release dates yet.
Hayek’s recent films include Beatriz at Dinner and How to Be a Latin Lover, and she has just finished filming the sequel to the 2017 film The Hitman’s Bodyguard, The Hitman’s Wife’s Bodyguard, with Ryan Reynolds and Samuel L. Jackson.
