Security Officers killed more than 26 people who were protesting against the current President of Congo Joseph Kabila, say reports.

It has been reported that the military forces were firing bullets recklessly without seeing anyone and also warned that they would do this again in order to raise fear in people.

Well, it all started after the current president kabali’s mandate got expired in this November and he was asked to contest an election.

But the ruling party said that they need more time, at least 1-2 years more. And as per as court hearing, the current president can remain to be in power until the new election happens.

Kabali took the charge of office in 2001 after his father was assassinated.

However, the electoral commission has also said that they need time as well, to register around 30 million voters and that too with “worst” transport facility.

The protest, which was clearly organized by the opposition to hold the ruling party back on their decision of delaying the election, ended up after the security forces shot 26 people to dead at different places.

Another report says that the protesters initially burned the headquarters of the ruling party in Kinshasa.

The head of the opposition, Etienne Tshisekedi, has meanwhile issued a statement online in which he urged people for “peaceful protests”.

Slamming the current president, Etienne called him “treason” for not contesting elections and requested to the people of Congo as well as the international community to no longer recognize Kabila’s authority.

But the saddest part of all these things is, people are dying and 26 have died yet.
