When you think of Jeff Bridges it’s hard to believe he’s in his sixth decade of acting. He started out appearing on television as a child in shows such as Sea Hunt and Lassie, before moving onto the big screen. His first big starring role came in 1971’s The Last Picture Show, for which he received his first Oscar nomination. This year at the 76th Annual Golden Globes, Bridges will be the recipient of the Cecil B.DeMille Award, which honours his lifetime achievement for film.

While DeMille was the first recipient of the award, those who followed in his footsteps are a veritable who’s who of Hollywood. From Walt Disney, Judy Garland, Kirk Douglas, Alfred Hitchcock, Clint Eastwood and Barbra Streisand to Martin Scorsese, Robert De Niro, Jodie Foster, George Clooney, Denzel Washington, Meryl Streep and Oprah Winfrey, the names on the list are legendary. Bridges himself has been nominated for 7 Oscars (of which he won Best Actor for Crazy Heart in 2010) and for 5 Golden Globes (also winning for Crazy Heart).

It’s no surprise Bridges became as big of a star as he did, after all he and his brother Beau grew up in Hollywood with his actor parents Lloyd Bridges and Dorothy Dean Bridges. His other movies have included  Thunderbolt and Lightfoot, Tron, Starman, Against All Odds, The Fisher King, The Big Lebowski, True Grit and  his latest Bad Times at the El Royale.

The Golden Globe Awards will take place this year on January 6th, hosted by Sandra Oh and Andy Samberg.
