Back in August Drew Barrymore shot a pilot for a daytime television talk show, but none of the major networks were biting to pick it up. That all changed yesterday though when CBS Television Distribution made it official, they would air and produce Barrymore’s show starting in Fall 2020.
In a released statement Barrymore said “It is beyond my wildest dreams to have this opportunity for a daily talk show. I’m truly thrilled and honored to be creating this show with CBS.”
Barrymore of course was introduced at a very young age when she was one of the stars of E.T., and since then she has gone on to star in such films as The Wedding Singer, 50 First Dates, Never Been Kissed, Ever After and more. She also has some television credits to her name as well, including the Netflix series Santa Clarita Diet, Family Guy, and The World’s Best talent competition on which she served as a judge.
Steve LoCascio, chief operating and financial officer of CBS Global Distribution Group, said in a statement that “Drew is a huge star and a breath of fresh air — her show will energize any station’s lineup.”
At this point very little else is known about the new show, including what format it will take, but it was announced that Barrymore will also be an executive-producer for it.
