Charlie’s Angels is set to hit the big screen once again in reboot directed by Elizabeth Banks, and now the actresses playing the Angels have been confirmed.
Kristen Stewart (Twilight, Panic Room) and Naomi Scott (Power Rangers, The 33) will star alongside British newcomer Ella Balinska as the crime-fighting trio. Banks will not only direct the film, but will star as Bosley as well. Bosley is the Angels’ handler and intermediary between the girls and their employer Charlie Townsend. A script is already ready, and the film is set to be launched on September 27, 2019. Originally the film was given a June release date, but the script was re-written and caused delays. This film is a reboot of sorts, yet still considered to be a sequel to the original films that came out in the early 2000’s starring Cameron Diaz, Drew Barrymore and Lucy Liu. It’s said to follow a new generation of Angels, who are still working for Charlie. Since the original films, the Townsend Agency has grown and gone global, working for private clients and providing security and intelligence services.
Charlie’s Angels was originally a TV series that ran from 1976-1981 and starred Kate Jackson, Farrah Fawcett, and Jaclyn Smith. In 2000 the first of a pair of movies about the Angels came out, and it made $264 million at the box office. The 2003 sequel made $259 million. In 2011 the series returned to TV that was a critical disaster and only ran for 8 episodes.
