Going under the knife is an important decision and you must know things listed below before going for one:

Plastic and cosmetic surgeries are widely performed to reshape and improve the appearance of the body parts, the most common of them include change in shape of nose, lips, increase/reduction in breasts size, reshaping the saggy breasts, reduction in the size of ears, hair implantation to fill the bald areas, burn repair surgery, congenital defect repair, removing facial wrinkles, creases and scars, flattening of tummy, etc.

Plastic surgery and cosmetic surgery are closely related, while cosmetic surgery is actually a subset of the plastic surgery. While plastic surgery deals with a very big universe, cosmetic surgery is performed to make one look better for the enhancement of the beauty or looks purposes. Let us look at both of them one by one…

Plastic surgery focuses on working on, reducing, and removing the imperfections/defects that exist to correct dysfunctional parts of the body and is reconstructive in nature and includes breast reconstruction, burn repair, congenital defect repair, scar revision surgery, etc. Methods of the plastic surgery include grafting, i.e. transferring tissue, repairing or reshaping tissue structures, removal of tissues, and replacement of tissue with an artificial substance in very few cases. Injuries and diseases involving the loss of a tissue or any body part require rebuilding or reshaping the structure of the tissue so that plastic surgeons may be able to attach the body part.

While, on the other hand, Cosmetic surgery focuses on improvising aesthetic appeal of the body. Cosmetic surgeries include breast enhancement, facial rejuvenation, rhinoplasty, enhancement, liposuction, tummy tuck, botox and filler treatment. Removal of tissue for facelift operation, known as Rhytidectomy gives a youthful appearance to the person undergoing such an operation. Face, ears, hands, and genitals can be corrected by rebuilding and reshaping the tissues to perform Rhinoplasty. Liposuction is the process of removing excess of fat from hips, thighs, and ankles, which is performed by making an incision in the skin and sucking out the excess fat through a tube while the correction of shape of breasts is called Mammoplasty which involves inserting of a synthetic implant in one or both of the breasts.

Cosmetic surgery can change your self-esteem as well as your physical appearance, but you must not be under crisis, which might include emotional issues, such as divorce, loss of closed ones and importantly you must not have unrealistic expectations. You must stop smoking for about a month before and after surgery to reduce the risks associated with the complications. You should also look at your pocket for the expenses, the reason for your surgery, best surgeon to perform the operation, risks associated, and the recovery time once you are done.
