The Lockdown Plays

A Unique Way To ‘Watch’ Live Theatre

If you are used to going out to live theatre, the current pandemic is probably making you miss it more than ever. Acast.com is trying to change that though, by bringing weekly podcasts of new short audio plays written by top playwrights.

The show, called The Lockdown Plays, has several playwrights on board, including Caryl Churchill, Inua Ellams and Simon Stephens. The purpose of the podcast is to raise money for homeless charity St Mungo’s, and already it’s catching a fair bit of attention. The first episode aired last week, and it’s called Cordelia Lynn’s Fragments. The podcast stars British stage actress Patsy Ferran who was set to star on Broadway this spring in a new production of Who’s Afraid of Virginia Woolf? The second episode is now available as well, and it’s called Simon Stephens The Gap.

The Lockdown Plays are brought to you by Tom Mothersdale, Wilf Scolding and Anoushka Warden.
