Samsung Display unveiled its latest mobile OLED panel technology at the Mobile World Congress (MWC) 2025 in Barcelona. The new display uses OCF (On-Cell Film) OLED and shows great progress in brightness and energy efficiency. It can reach a peak brightness of 5,000 nits in a 10% window and 3,000 nits when displaying movie content.
This new tech does not use polarizers, which improves visibility in sunlight and also lowers power use. Panels that can use this technology can be up to 20% thinner than regular OLED panels, making them more durable and allowing for new designs.
Samsung calls it “L.E.A.D., The Next Wave of Display,” which stands for Low power consumption, Eco-friendliness, Augmented brightness, and Designed to be slim and light.
The company claims that these new panels can achieve 1.5 times higher brightness levels at the same power consumption as previous models, as reported by SamMobile.
The company aims to expand OCF technology from foldable devices to bar-type smartphones.
