So, it’s insanely hot here in Texas. All I want to do is relax by the pool, listen to music and soak up the sun. But I can’t, becaaaaause… I GOT A TATTOO!

Well, technically, half of a tattoo. I had a 3-hour session on Monday and will have a 6-hour session (!!!) next month to complete it. It didn’t hurt as much as I thought it would, thank the lawd. I was totally scared.
In case you’re wondering what the meaning is behind the tattoo, it’s this (this is kinda awkward and embarrassing to say, but I’m an open book):
Throughout my entire life, I have always been a late bloomer — physically and academically, confidence-wise, etc. I didn’t take middle school and high school (even SATs) seriously. I didn’t even think about college until about a month before applications were due. I discovered my career path in college, out of the blue, and totally at random (aka, as I was baking my very own healthy homemade chocolate cake in my crappy dorm oven). When I decided to start blogging, my parents didn’t really “approve” of it and my dedication to it until three years in. While I still don’t know exactly where I’m going or what I’ll be doing a year down the road, I’m glad I stuck with blogging and I’m truly happy with everything I’ve accomplished.
Sometimes I randomly remember that I’m a business owner, trademark holder, university graduate and cookbook author… like, WHAT?!? What. On. Earth happened between the time when I literally sat on the couch watching TV all day to today? It was food. FOOD happened. Dessert and nutrition and the combination of the two sparked something inside me and gave me motivation.
When the tattoo is finished, the fully bloomed rose will be big, beautiful and red. It is meant to attract your eye and be noticed first, then you will notice the rosebud. I want to get a verse tattooed along my inner bicep or outer forearm, but have yet to find an artist who specializes in text (the artist I have now specializes in realism). I can’t wait to show you the finished product!
