Samsung Halts One UI 8 Rollout for Galaxy S23 Series After 3 Weeks of Distribution

Just three weeks after it began, Samsung has paused the Android 16-based One UI 8 update for Galaxy S23s. The update first started reaching users in late September, but it’s no longer available on Samsung’s servers.
Devices are reverting to the previous Android 15 firmware version ending in DYI3, meaning the company has pulled the latest EYI5 update to resolve an internal issue. Samsung has not offered a public explanation for the suspension, and so far, there have been no widespread complaints or serious problems reported by those who had already installed the new version, per SamMobile. (Some users have mentioned battery drain issues, but these claims are isolated and unconfirmed by Samsung.)
Reports indicate a larger pattern: In recent weeks, Samsung has also paused the One UI 8 update for the Galaxy S24, Galaxy S22, and Fold SE models.
Samsung likely identified a bug or performance issue while running a post-release review. If that’s the case, this would have led the company to hold back the update before more users received it.
Though Samsung hasn’t said when it will resume delivering the One UI 8 update, earlier suspensions for other Galaxy models lasted only a few days, so Galaxy S23 owners may not have to wait much longer. Until Samsung resumes the update, users are advised to stay on their current firmware.
