After two years of anticipation, we finally have a premiere date for David Lynch’s Twin Peaks revival; May 21st.

It’s hard to believe it’s been over two years since the Twin Peaks revival miniseries was announced, and up until now very little else was known about it other than it was coming, with a fair number of the original cast in tow. Showtime made the announcement yesterday during their Television Critics Association panel. They told us that the limited series would be 18-hours in length, with a two episode premiere on May 21st. For those who aren’t able to wait for the following week when the next two episodes are set to air, Showtime subscribers will be able to access them on Showtime’s streaming service and Showtime On Demand. After that, it’s back to weekly, one hour episodes until the series is over.

David Lynch has directed all 18 episodes, which will mark his first body of work since 2006’s Inland Empire. The series will be a continuation of the original 1990-1991 series, and is set in present time, 25 years after Laura Palmer’s murder. Kyle MacLachlan, Mädchen Amick, Ray Wise, Harry Goaz, and Miguel Ferrer, are all returning.
