Microsoft has begun rolling out Notepad updates to Windows Insiders in the Canary and Dev Channels. The new version, 11.2510.6.0, introduces two new features.
The first adds table support to Notepad, allowing users to insert tables directly into their documents. Tables can be added through the new Table option in the formatting toolbar or by using Markdown syntax. Once inserted, users can make quick edits to add or delete columns and rows using the right-click context menu or the Table menu in the toolbar.
In addition to tables, the update improves Notepad’s AI text features by implementing streaming results. The Write, Rewrite, and Summarize functions now display responses as they are generated, rather than making users wait for the complete output. This lets users see a preview of the results and interact with the content more efficiently.
Streaming support for Rewrite is currently exclusive to Copilot+ PCs, where results are processed locally. Also, to use any of these AI-powered features (Write, Rewrite, and Summarize), users must sign in with a Microsoft account.
Windows Insiders can test these features now, with broader availability coming in future Windows releases.
