Microsoft has released a new optional update for Windows 11 24H2, KB5050094. This update became available on January 28, 2025, addresses several issues and introduces new features to enhance user experience, as reported by Windows Latest.
This optional update requires manual installation. It includes fixing the oversaturation problem with Auto HDR in games and resolving mouse cursor visibility issues. It restores functionality for DAC Audio USB devices and improves both taskbar animations and File Explorer usability.
The update, titled “2025-01 Cumulative Update Preview for Windows 11 Version 24H2 for x64-based Systems (KB5050094),” is available through Windows Update. Users need to manually check for updates to see this optional release.
Recent updates also have introduced several improvements, like the ability to change time zones without requiring admin permissions, fixes for cursor transparency issues, and resolutions for distortions in the Snipping Tool.
Additionally, loading problems in Excel have been addressed, and the Task Manager now opens more quickly. Issues related to audio devices and USB camera recognition have been fixed, and a resolution for a specific Windows Update error (0x800736b3) has been found.
The update size is approximately 1,127MB for Intel or AMD PCs and 1,310MB for ARM devices.
Users can consider the benefits and risks of optional updates. Initial reports reveal that KB5050094 is stable and fixes significant issues without new problems.
