Looking for the first images of HTC’s brand-new Vive Pro? We’ve got the first selection of photos of the 3K headset listed below.
HTC announced the brand-new Vive at its CES press conference today. It’s a revamped piece of kit with a much better screen, strap, integrated audio and dual microphone support. It likewise seems very blue. Good!
Vive Pro is showing up as a particular headset this quarter for existing Vive owners that desire to update, and will deliver with all the bonus (controllers, base stations) in the future in 2018.
-
” Vive Pro is arriving as a singular headset this quarter for existing Vive owners that wish to upgrade”
I wonder if that means they’ll be offering a discount rate to existing owners for the upgrade.
-
Perhaps. Personally I question it. But all of us understood buying the first gen of these things that this was going to happen.
-
It depends on how you define discount.
Will it be less than the complete package? Surely, it will be.
Will it be inexpensive? We need to wait for the cost statement.
I think HTC charges out-of-warranty about $250 to replace the Vive for existing consumers (for instance, damaged HMDs). Even that isn’t really a standard, but at most a talking point.
-
checking out the sentence i take it as you can buy the hmd by itself, no controller no light boxes etc.
. That would describe what they implied by “and will deliver with all the extras (controllers, base stations) later on in 2018.”
I am guessing that implies we can utilize our existing light houses and controllers and therefore upgrade cheaper. bet it will be a dumb cost anyhow though -
That’s exactly what it seems like … HTC is a company familiar with what the word “upgrade” means in the smartphone/tablet industry. I doubt they would have utilized the term upgrade. Otherwise, they might have simply said the HMD was offered for purchase standalone for users with the routine model, nixing the word “upgrade”.
When it comes to the standalone cost and upgrade cost … That’s the genuine question. Standalone HMD probs will be around $500-$ 600 I ‘d presume, so an upgrade of the HMD + $200-$ 300 sounds about right for prices. This is all presuming that the Pro package would be around the $800 price point. I doubt they ‘d be stupid enough to set the MSRP at anything higher than that (even $800 is pressing it). That’s most likely why their not launching the bundle right now, to coop more return on the upgrade rate, build stock for refurbished systems, and get an idea for VR lover interest on updating.
-
I wouldn’t get thrilled. There is no way they are doing a trade-in upgrade. I’m sure it will be $400-$ 600 for just the headset, buy it if you desire it scenario. Which I would get it, however not without an increase in FOV. That’s my new requirement, 110 degree FOV doesn’t cut it.

Hmm. I will wait on evaluations initially, I don’t believe I am interested in returning to a wired experience after using Tpcast, specifically when I already have a greater resolution WMR HMD. >>

_ > That suggests people with anything below 1070 webcam forget this

That thing looks like it was created by a thirteen years of age.
