Google Messages Makes Deleting Videos Easier but Complicates Forwarding in Latest Update

According to an APK teardown of the new Google Messages beta for Android, the company is planning to replace the forward shortcut for video files with a new delete button, Android Authority reports.
This means that instead of seeing the forward icon next to received videos, users will see a delete button, which is intended to give a quicker way to free up storage by removing videos that are no longer needed.
With this change, forwarding video messages will now require users to long-press on the video and then pick the forward option from the menu rather than simply tapping a forward icon. However, this update only applies to video content. Other types of media, such as images or text, will continue to display the double-arrow share icon, at least until now.
The decision to add a delete shortcut for videos could be because of the large amount of storage that video files can use on devices. The new button has already been enabled in the beta version of Google Messages, but there is no official timeline for when it will become available to all users.
This came after Google added a new option to Messages, “Delete for everyone.”
