Google has reversed a controversial change it made to the Pixel Launcher’s “At a Glance” widget. (Yes, that’s the same widget that can’t be removed from or moved around your homescreen.) Its latest Android 16 QPR1 Beta 3 update brings back the widget’s colorful weather icons after a brief stint with a bland, all-white aesthetic.
Google made the change after receiving user feedback that claimed the minimalist icons were harder to see, making it difficult to quickly understand current weather conditions. Many users found that the white icons blended into the background, ironically requiring them to take more than just a glance at the At a Glance widget. Some users noted that they preferred the older design for its better visual contrast.
The 16 QPR1 Beta 3 update not only brings the vibrant At a Glance icons back to the homescreen, but also introduces a larger font size for weather data, Android Authority reports. The updated widget also displays weather information more distinctly from the time and date.
