Healthy Chocolate Muddy Buddies Bunnies

Can I tell you something?

I eat bunnies.

And smaller the better!

Whoa whoa whoa…  not REAL bunnies, silly!  I’m talking about these cocoa-covered bunny cookies!  They’re super delicious, sweet and crunchy cookies stirred into thick, rich and delicious melted peanut butter, and then coated in intensely flavored dark cocoa powder.

Mini Recap:  I do not eat cute and fluffy bunny rabbits.  Phew.

Now don’t these look delicious?

Probably the most appetizing bunnies you’ll ever see ?

I’m sure you’re craving some Muddy Buddies right about now, huh?  You know, that classic crunchy bite-sized snack packed with peanut butter, chocolate and sugar??  Well, here is a healthified version made with Annie’s Homegrown gluten-free cocoa vanilla bunny cookies, all-natural peanut butter and antioxidant-rich dark cocoa powder!

No need for the powdered sugar, high fructose corn syrup, peanut butter with hydrogenated oils and trans fats or butter.  Or the excess calories, fat and sugar.

The four crackers on the left are the crackers straight from the bag.  And yes, they’re totally delicious on their own, but once they’re packed with peanut butter and (even more) chocolate, they’re absolutely 100% addictive mini treats!

I first became aware of healthier snack products when I was in 10th grade.  Back then, I didn’t really know anything about “organic” and “non-GMO” foods…  I just wanted whatever tasted good.  When I wandered into Whole Foods and walked through the snacks aisle, I was hooked.  When I went to college and began learning about what organic, non-GMO, and fair-trade really meant, my food and where it comes from, what it’s made with, and how it gets here, has increasingly become more and more important to me.  I love crunchy and sweet snacks, so these bunnies are one of my faves.  No artificial food flavorings, synthetic dyes, added hormones, preservatives, etc.

These bunnies sure don’t taste healthy and natural at all.  Shhh, let’s keep that a secret!

I can resist some snacks, but this?  Psht, yeah right.  Hand me a bowl of this and I will eat it nonstop.  If you try it take it away from me and take a few bunnies for yourself, I will growl at you.

I think you can tell that I had a hard time not eating every last bunny in five seconds flat…

Notes:

One thing I love about these Healthy Chocolate Muddy Buddies Bunnies is that they leave your fingertips coated with yummy dark cocoa powder (and I have ZERO issues with that).  Kinda like how people get orange fingers from eating Cheetos.  Except this isn’t made with neon orange artificial food coloring.

OH LOOK!  IT’S FOOD!  I like food.  I’ll take that bowl right there, thanks.

With love and good eats,
