Levi Strauss coordinate with gun control group: ‘We simply can not wait calmly’

American denim giant Levi Strauss & & Co. announced Tuesday that it is releasing a series of brand-new efforts to benefit groups working to avoid weapon violence.

Levi Strauss’s CEO and President Chip Bergh composed in Fortune on Tuesday that the company “just can not wait silently when it concerns that threaten the really material of the neighborhoods where we live and work.”

“You may wonder why a company that doesn’t manufacture or offer guns is wading into this problem, but for us, it’s easy,” Bergh composed. “Americans should not need to live in fear of weapon violence. It’s an issue that affects all of us– all generations and all strolls of life.”

Bergh said it was his duty to defend crucial problems since he leads a “values-drive company that’s known the world over as a leader of the American West and among the great symbols of American liberty.”

He included that he is not advocating to repeal the 2nd Change nor calling weapon owners careless.

“We cannot insulate ourselves from every threat,” Bergh wrote. “We cannot ‘harden’ every place we collect– whether it be our schools, workplaces, stores, churches, or entertainment locations. But we can take common-sense, measurable steps– like criminal background examine all weapon sales– that will save lives.”

Levi’s, therefore, revealed a new three-tiered initiative to support gun violence avoidance.

The company will contribute more than $1 million over the next 4 years to nonprofits and youth activists that work to end gun violence, establishing the “Safer Tomorrow Fund.”

The blue jean producer likewise partnered with weapon control group Everytown for Weapon Safety and other executives to form Everytown Business Leaders for Gun Safety.

Bergh called the group a coalition of company leaders who “think, as we do, that business has a vital function to play in and a moral responsibility to do something about the gun violence epidemic in this nation.”

Levi’s will likewise double all contributions made by their workers to the Safer Tomorrow Fund.

Bergh acknowledged that the choice to promote for weapon control is a questionable one.
