Unbreakable Kimmy Schmidt Will End With Season 4

Unbreakable Kimmy Schmidt’s fourth season is set to premiere on Netflix on May 30th, and now word is spreading that it will be the last season of the hit series. That might not be the end of it though as it appears as if there will be a movie special made to serve as the series finale coming as well.

The series has garnered 16 Emmy nominations over its three seasons, which includes three for Outstanding Comedy Series. Although it didn’t win any of the awards, the show holds an average rating of 97% on Rotten Tomatoes, and is one of Netflix’s most popular shows. Originally it was created as a midseason replacement on NBC, but the network decided not to take the show and Netflix picked it up instead. Originally it was only supposed to run for 2 seasons, starting in 2015, but the show ended up being so popular that it renewed it for another 2.

Unbreakable Kimmy Schmidt stars Ellie Kemper as the title character who moves to New York after escaping a mad preacher who held her captive for over a decade in an underground bunker. It was co-created by Tina Fey and Robert Carlock and also stars Tituss Burgess, Jane Krakowski and Carol Kane.

Season 4 of the Netflix series will be split into two parts, with the first 6 episodes airing on May 30th. The second half of the season will air at a later date. And hopefully if the movie does happen, it will air shortly after that.
