You don’t have to break the bank to get a good deal on a gaming monitor. Perfectly decent panels can be purchased for just a few hundred bucks each, and they’ll sport the essential features—high refresh rate, low latency, and capable resolution. They might not have the futuristic features of some higher-end models, but they’ll do the job and come with some solid discounts.
We’ve got a few LG units on the list this time, and they’re all guaranteed to deliver stellar performance. Getting a 32″ screen for barely over two hundred bucks is a killer deal, especially one with these specs. The 32″ QHD Ultragear boasts a 1ms gray-to-gray response time coupled with a 180Hz refresh rate, making it able to squeeze maximum performance out of your GPU. The gently curved 1000R screen is immersive without being distracting, and the virtually borderless ultra-thin design is stylish and efficient.

The sleek and stylish monitor may be short on ports, with only one HDMI and one VGA input, but the 1080p screen boasts a 100,000,000:1 contrast ratio for crisp, clear images. This doesn’t offer some of the advanced features you’d expect in higher-priced models, but it gets the job done.

The 180Hz refresh rate is nice and fast, and the 1ms response time is more than adequate. The stand is easy to set up and adjust, and the screen has a good native contrast ratio and black equalizer tech, making it designed for dark rooms.

The huge 32″ screen is vibrant and bright, with rich color reproduction and a blisteringly fast 160Hz refresh rate that plays nice with AMD’s FreeSync graphics cards to lock in to framerates and reduce tearing and skipping. The only issue with the IPS panel is that the blacks aren’t as deep as some other screens, but that makes it better for light rooms.

LG Ultragear 32″ 4K Gaming Monitor for $549.99 (list price $699.99)
The transition to flat screens was a massive culture shift, but we’re on the verge of a second one right now. Since LED lights can be placed in any sort of configuration, many monitor makers are taking advantage of that to create curved displays that mimic the natural curvature of your eye, reducing strain and creating a more immersive experience. If you haven’t tried one, they’re extremely cool.
This is a lot of curved screen for the price, with surprisingly solid image quality on a 1500R curve. While it’s not the largest or most immersive screen you’ll buy, the refresh rate is dazzlingly fast, and the zero-frame design gives you edge-to-edge imagery. A standard 1ms gray-to-gray response time means you’ll never miss a frame, and the ergonomically designed stand features -5° to 20° tilt, +/- 15° swivel and a 3.93″ height adjustment, so you can set it up to your ideal position. This is a ridiculously cheap price for a curved monitor, so grab one while it’s on sale.

Acer Nitro 27″ Curved FHD Gaming Monitor for $159.99 (list price $199.99)
It’s a little spendy, but this Samsung is one of the best-curved monitors on the market. With an incredibly fast 240Hz refresh rate, it’ll keep up with your graphics card no matter how powerful it is. The 1000R curvature mimics the bend of the human eye for the most natural-feeling display. Quantum Matrix Technology with Quantum Mini LEDs create a 1,000,000:1 contrast ratio, with deep blacks and vivid colors in tandem. The matte screen reduces reflections and helps keep your eyes focused and healthy. This is a potent performer that will dazzle you in action.

LG UltraGear QHD 34″ Curved Gaming Monitor for $289.93 (list price $399.99)
When you’re in the market for a gaming monitor, there are a few important features to keep in mind:
Monitors come in a staggering array of sizes and form factors. In general, the best advice is to purchase a display that is as large as possible for your desk or wall mount. It’s better to have a screen that’s too big than one that’s too small. You’ll also want to ensure that it has a stand that can adjust to your preferred viewing angle.
Resolution is important for high-definition gaming, but other factors are equally so. The screen’s refresh rate is one of the most important things to look at. That measures how often it can “draw” a new image. This should equal or slightly exceed what your graphics card can put out; otherwise, it’ll just be wasting its effort. Many monitors offer a variable refresh rate that can sync with your GPU.
Other important metrics are contrast, which should not be lower than 1,000:1; color gamut, which should be rated 100% sRGB at a minimum; and pixel refresh rate. For that, anything under 5ms is fine, but you might want to opt for 1ms if you play fast-action games.
There’s a lot of variety in monitor offerings, as you can see from the deals above. Generally, a gaming monitor worth its salt will run around two hundred dollars at full retail price. Going lower than that typically involves sacrificing some functionality. However, keeping your eye out for deals can drop the cost of a budget monitor down below a hundred bucks. When your panel gets bigger and your resolution increases, the price can go up, and a solid midrange monitor will cost around $600. The sky’s the limit for the high-end 8K ones, which often come in at several thousand dollars.
There are many benefits to a curved monitor. For one, they allow you to have a more immersive experience by filling your field of vision more naturally than a rectangular monitor. The curvature mimics the shape of your eyeball, creating a natural interface between the display and your mind. With rectangular monitors, our eyes are naturally drawn to the edges, which can create eyestrain. Curved monitors allow your peripheral vision to contribute to your perception more consistently.
When the rate of output from your graphics card exceeds the rate the monitor can render frames, it can create glitches like screen tearing or stuttering. This is no fun, so display manufacturers have created software that matches the render rate from the GPU in the monitor. There are several different versions, including Adaptive-Sync, but they all work basically the same way and can make a huge difference.
