Spotify and Uber partner up to let you control the music

The ride-sharing app Uber has announcing a brand new partnership with the Swedish-based streaming service Spotify, giving Spotify Premium customers the ability to control the music during their Uber ride.

So, how does it work? Uber customers connect their Spotify Premium accounts in the Uber app. Once you are connected to an Spotify-enabled Uber car, you are then given a choice to play either one of Uber’s curated playlists or one of your own. Alternatively, you can jump into the Spotify app and play music from there. When the ride arrives, then the music automatically changes to what you selected – and you can easily change the music from either the Spotify or Uber apps.

The Spotify-enabled Ubers will launch in ten cities this Friday (November 21): London, Los Angeles, Mexico City, Nashville, New York, San Francisco, Singapore, Stockholm, Sydney and Toronto. To celebrate the partnership, they will also hold special events such as artist ride-alongs and live sessions (only in 5 of the 10 launch cities).

For those living in other cities, you’ll have to wait. Both Uber and Spotify have said that they are rolling it to all Uber markets gradually in the coming weeks.
