Samsung Galaxy Note 7 is discontinued for good and the Korean company is still in proces of refunding the customers. Majority have returned their devices, but there are still a few of those who are holding off to the Galaxy Note 7. Samsung is trying to make sure all Galaxy Note 7’s are returned by offering customers with exchange offers and incentives.
As a last resort, the company is working with carriers to cut off access to the Galaxy Note7. It has already done that in New Zealand, and it seems Australia is next in line where Galaxy Note 7 users won’t get any network access if they plan on using the device even after the warnings from Samsung.
According to a new report, Samsung Australia is working with the local carriers to discontinue network access for the Galaxy Note 7 units which are still with customers in the country. The discontinuation will commence from December 15th after which the handsets will not get any network access, leaving the customers with no choice but to return the handset — it’s for their own benefit and safety considering the accidents we’ve heard about after the launch of the handset.
Samsung is yet to confirm if a similar step will be taken in other markets, but it’s possible that we may get to hear about it in the near future. That’s the last resort, if the customers are still planning to keep the handset.
