Pokemon GO Plus is coming to Australia on September 16

The long-awaited Pokemon GO Plus is finally coming to Australia and New Zealand on September 16. For the unacquainted, Pokemon GO Plus is a small Bluetooth-powered device that you wear on your wrist and allows you to play the game without the need of constantly looking at your smartphone.

According to the press release, the GO Plus will be most useful when trying to find Pokemon. It will blink green whenever there is a nearby Pokemon (in the wild, not those that appear when you use an incense). Press the button and it will throw a Pokeball, and will vibrate and flash when you successfully caught it.

It will also let you collect items from nearby Pokestops whenever you are in range.

While Nintendo says that the Pokemon GO Plus can be used while the game is running in the background, it also notes that Pokemon GO does not record distance when in background mode. So, if you were expecting to do some walking to hatch eggs, you will need to come up with another solution.

In order to use this, you will need to update the game to the latest version. It is only compatible with iOS 8+ or Android 4.4 or higher, with support for Bluetooth 4.0 or higher.

Nintendo has not announced pricing or availability.
