Plantronics reveals RIG 800 wireless headset, promises 24 hour battery life

Plantronics’ flagship gaming headset just got bigger, with the company revealing at E3 the RIG 800 – the first wireless headset that, it says, promises 24 hours battery life. The headset has two variants: one for the PlayStation 4, and one for the Xbox One.

“At Plantronics, we understand the importance of providing gamers with tangible benefits that make them better players,” Peter Petrides, the Director of Gaming Products at Plantronics Australia and New Zealand, said.

“The RIG 800 series is designed for superior wireless performance and unmatched playtime combined with lightweight comfort and precision controls. As gamers ourselves, we strive to develop products for a whole range of player styles and needs. This is reflected in our extensive lineup of RIG headsets”

Performance-wise, the RIG 800 features amplified 40mm drivers with low-frequency resonators to reinforce bass and limit audio distortion. Just like other RIG devices, you can control the mix between game and chat audio; and change EQ settings to enhance vocals, intensify the mid-range, or isolate the pure highs. The RIG 800 also features a noise-cancelling mic, and simply flipping it up will mute it.

As well, the RIG 800 shares the modular design of the RIG 500, allowing you to further customise your headset to meet your needs – and head shape.

The headset will cost AU$279.99. It will be available on September 2016 from major retailers or online via the Plantronics website.
