Oh, the excitement! Nielsen releases a list of the most anticipated games of the holidays

Nielsen, a consumer research company, has surveyed 4,800 gamers ranging from the ages of 7 to 54 in order to find out which titles will be this year’s holiday blockbusters. The results of this study are below:

The results follow these guides:

• The games surveyed on have a release date between the 1st of October and the 31st of December this year.
• Anticipation has been measured using a combination of several factors, including “awareness, purchase interest, consumer rating and others“, and is relative to the anticipation levels for previous releases on the same consoles.
• The average amount of anticipation for a game is 50%, 70-79% means well above average, 80-89% means very strong anticipation and 90-100% means the game has an extremely high anticipation level surrounding its release.
• Only games with an average of 70% or above are shown.

Overall, the most highly anticipated multi-platform release is Call of Duty: Black Ops 3, with a whopping 98% anticipation rate. Unsurprisingly, Fallout 4 is close behind at 95%, equal with the next instalment of Assassin’s Creed, which is interesting in light of suggestions that fans are becoming less satisfied with the recent instalments.

Halo 5 takes the cake for X-Box One releases with a 100% anticipation rate (which I’m assuming means nearly every X-Box player surveyed said they were feeling the hype). Playstation gamers are feeling a much lower amount of anticipation for their front-runner, with a 79% anticipation rate for Uncharted: The Nathan Drake Collection. PC gamers are looking forward to Starcraft II: Legacy of the Void (91%) and Ubisoft’s Anno 2205 (75%), whilst PS Vita players can get hyped for Corpse Party: Blood Drive (76%). Yoshi’s Woolly World is taking the top of the Wii U chart with a anticipation level of 91%, and the new Dragon Ball Z: Extreme Butoden is exciting the 3DS players with an average of 88%.
