Minecraft is coming to the Wii U next week (finally)

Wii U users can now finally experience a console version of Minecraft, and just in time for Christmas. Mojang and Nintendo today announced that they will be launching Minecraft: Wii U Edition next Friday – or December 18 – in Australia and New Zealand.

The game will be sold via the Nintendo eShop and will include most of the popular add-on content packs such as Battle Beasts Skin Pack, Natural Texture Pack, City Texture Pack, Fantasy Texture Pack, and Festive Mash-Up Pack.

Players can purchase additional add-on packs from the Nintendo eShop. 16 add-on packs will be available for purchase from launch – including skin packs for Doctor Who, The Simpsons, Skyrim and Mass Effect – with Nintendo and Mojang promising that more add-ons will be available in the future.

Nintendo and Mojang have also announced that they will be collaborating on “new content for Nintendo fans”. They haven’t provided much information about what this will be, only saying that it will be released at a later date.
