Microsoft makes its 60,000 patents open source to assist Linux

Microsoft revealed today that it’s signing up with the Open Innovation Network (OIN), an open-source patent group designed to assist protect Linux from patent suits. In essence, this makes the business’s library over 60,000 patents open source and offered to OIN members.
