Kia has been teasing a new sporty car that will be its fastest accelerating model ever. Kia hasn’t come clean with the name of the car in the video, but it is thought to be the new Kia GT. What it does show us is that the car can run from a standstill to 62 mph in 5.1 seconds. That should mean that the car is able to reach 60mph in under 5 seconds.
Kia brags that the car is the fastest-accelerating Kia to date. The Kia GT is expected to be a rear-drive sedan with a 3.8L V6 under the hood or a twin turbo 3.3L engine as an option. Another rumor suggests that there could be a version powered by a 5.0L V8 engine making 420hp.
Kia could certainly use a cool car, the company is known mostly as a budget auto maker. Other rumors suggest a starting price of under $30,000, but you can count on higher performance versions costing much more. The new sports car is set for debut on January 8 at 6pm EST ahead of the Detroit auto show.
