Homeland Will End With Season 8

It’s been long expected that the hit CIA drama Homeland would be ending with season 8, and now series star Claire Danes has comfirmed it.

During an appearance on Howard Stern’s Sirius XM show, the actress not only revealed that she was pregnant with her second child, but that her TV show would be ending after next season. When Stern asked her point blank if the show was ending, she said  “Yeah, that’s it.” The series is currently wrapping up it’s seventh season, with the finale set to air on April 29th, but it’s been long rumoured that the eighth season would be its last.

When Showtime renewed Homeland for a seventh and eight season shortly before its sixth season premiered, rumours started running rampant that there would not be a ninth season. There has been no official word on that though, as sources have said the Showtime is keeping its options open to continue the show running after that with a new showrunner and cast. Current showrunner Alex Gansa has already stated that season eight would be his last, but he hadn’t said if the series would continue on without him. He did state as well that Carrie Mathison’s (Claire Danes) story would be more than likely ended by then too though.

During her interview Danes told Stern that while she was “really conflicted” about the series ending, she would also “be ready” for it. After all the series was a real physical workout that she’s “ready for a reprieve from.”
