Drake Dominates Billboard’s Top 10, Makes New Records

Move aside Beatles, Drake has just beaten your record from 1964.

Drake’s new album Scorpion was just released last month, and it’s been breaking all sorts of records. The last record to fall however is a huge accomplishment, and one that has stood for over 50 years. Back in 1964 The Beatles took the top five songs on Billboard’s Top 10, giving them 5 total songs on the chart. No one has replicated the feat of charting 5 songs in the Top 10 since then, and most thought no one would match the record, let alone break it. Drake did though, by placing 7 songs in the Top 10 for last week, which is a new record. The Beatles hold on to record of dominating the Top 5 though.

After the announcement was made, Drake reacted to it on Instagram, posting a photo of the Top 10 chart, with a caption of “All 7’s…”

Of his songs on the chart, “Nice For What,” holds the top spot over all for the fourth time.  Drake is the first artist to have a song hit No. 1 four separate times, which is another record. Other than Drake, Cardi B, Bad Bunny and J Balvin’s  “I Like It,” Maroon 5 and Cardi B’s “Girls like You”, and XXXTentacion’s “Sad!” also made the chart.

Drake’s amazing accomplishment isn’t the only record he claimed this week though. He also surpassed Michael Jackson to become the most prolific male artist in the Top 10 history with 31 singles. All 25 tracks of Scorpion have appeared in the Hot 100 as well, and with two additional songs also charting, Drake has a total of 27 tracks on the Top 100. In case you are wondering, that too is a record for the most concurrent singles by one artist on the chart. Over 25% of the chart are Drake tracks. Not too bad.
